Motohiro Tanji


Motohiro Tanji was born in Japan.
He studied at Keio University, where he explored 3D computer graphics/programming.
He focused on the investigation of contemporary fashion design by using 3D geometric algorithms.
He then came to the United Kingdom and studied Fashion Knitwear design　at Nottingham Trent University,
where he continued his studies and completed his MA in Fashion Knitwear Design.
He started his own knitwear label, Motohiro Tanji in 2012,
showing his first catwalk collection at Tokyo Fashion Week in 2015.
He was nominated for the International Woolmark Prize for Japan in 2016.
In 2018, he started making knitting art works.
